What is an RR Wall (Revetment Wall)?

An RR Wall (short for Revetment/Riprap Wall) is a slope protection system constructed using interlocking precast concrete blocks laid on riverbanks, embankments, and slopes to prevent erosion from water currents, wave action, and rainfall.

In Bangladesh — a delta nation crisscrossed by over 700 rivers — RR Wall construction is one of the most critical civil engineering interventions. The Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB), Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), Roads & Highways Department (RHD), and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) all mandate RR Wall or revetment systems in their riverbank and embankment protection schemes.

Unlike rubble riprap (loose stone), precast hexagonal concrete blocks interlock geometrically — providing superior resistance to hydraulic uplift and lateral water forces while allowing vegetation growth through the open joints. This makes them the preferred choice for permanent bank protection across Bangladesh's high-energy river systems.

Next Gen Construction is the only company in Bangladesh that controls the entire chain — from designing and fabricating the steel casting moulds, to pouring, curing, quality testing, and final installation on-site. This means faster delivery, lower cost, consistent quality, and full accountability from a single partner.

How We Do It

6-Step Manufacturing Process

Every block that leaves our casting yard has passed through a rigorous six-stage quality-controlled production process — no shortcuts.

01

Steel Mould Design & Fabrication

Our in-house steel workshop designs and fabricates precision hexagonal and octagonal casting moulds. Each mould is engineered to produce blocks of exact specification — tolerances within ±2mm. Custom sizes on request.

02

Reinforcement Placement

High-tensile steel rebar cages (as per BS EN 1992 / BNBC) are placed inside each mould. The reinforcement pattern is designed per structural load requirements and client specifications.

03

Concrete Batching & Pouring

Grade M25 to M40 concrete is machine-batched with water-cement ratio control. Poured into moulds with continuous mixing and immediate placement to prevent segregation.

04

Compaction & Surface Finishing

Mechanical vibration compaction ensures zero-void concrete with maximum density. Surface is trowel-finished for dimensional accuracy and interlocking block fit.

05

28-Day Controlled Water Curing

All blocks undergo a minimum 28-day water curing cycle under controlled conditions. Curing ensures the concrete reaches its design strength of 25–40 N/mm² before dispatch.

06

Quality Testing & Certification

Every batch undergoes compressive strength cube tests per BSTI and BS EN 12504. Only blocks that pass the minimum crush strength threshold are cleared for delivery and installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

QWhat is an RR Wall and why is it used in Bangladesh?

RR Wall (Revetment/Riprap Wall) is a slope protection system using interlocking precast concrete blocks. It prevents riverbank erosion — a critical problem across Bangladesh's 700+ rivers. BWDB, LGED and RHD mandated systems across the country use our hexagonal block design.

QWhat is the cost of RR Wall construction per running foot in Bangladesh?

The cost depends on block size, concrete grade, depth of protection, and site accessibility. Contact our engineering team for a project-specific quote. We offer competitive rates as the direct manufacturer — no middlemen.

QDo you supply precast hexagonal blocks in custom sizes?

Yes. Our in-house steel workshop fabricates custom moulds for any hexagonal, octagonal, or irregular precast block dimension. Minimum order quantities apply for custom sizes.

QCan you export precast RR Wall blocks internationally?

Yes. We are fully equipped to export precast hexagonal blocks with proper quality documentation (mill test certificates, cube test reports, packaging per sea/road freight requirements). We currently serve export inquiries for Myanmar, India, Middle East and East Africa.

QWhat concrete grade do you use for precast hexagonal blocks?

We use M25 to M40 grade concrete (25–40 N/mm² characteristic compressive strength) depending on structural requirements. All batches are machine-mixed and cube-tested per BSTI / BS EN 206.

QWhat is the difference between RR Wall and Retaining Wall?

An RR (Revetment/Riprap) Wall protects slopes from erosion by water — placed on sloped riverbanks or embankments. A retaining wall resists horizontal earth pressure behind a vertical face. We construct both types using our in-house precast block systems.
